Colombia will be the host country of the Americas Exchange
and Leadership Development Seminar. The two firsts days
of the Seminar will take place in Bogotá city, the capital.
For the last three days an historical and comfortable hotel in Melgar
has been chosen to receive the delegation.
Fund
in 1538, Santafé de Bogotá is the capital and biggest
city (population over 6.500.000 habitants) of Colombia and one of
the faster growing of South America . It is located at the geographical
center of the country, with altitude 2.640 m , and temperature average
14°C .
Bogota is called the Athena of South Americas. The Universidad
Nacional de Colombia and many other universities have their seats
in the city, and this makes the capital the educational center most
important of the
country.
This is a city where modern buildings make contrast with colonial
houses and small buildings. The principal tourist places are: Gold
Museum , National Museum , San Francisco cathedral, Moserrate Mountain
. Other interesting places located near from the city are: Zipaquirá
Cathedral of Subterranean Salt and the Tequendama Falls.
This
hotel is the most traditional one in this part of the country. It
was build for the General Gustavo Rojas Pinilla, since when has
been the resting place of thousand Colombian families for 36 years,
making history in our country.
